My mother and grandmother took me to a Billy Graham service in Shreveport, Louisiana, when I was just a little girl (over 60 years ago). The service that he preached and the music from George Beverly Shea was such a tribute to the God that they loved and a blessing to everyone there.
Condolences to the family over the passing of a loved one, but you are rejoicing in his going home to be with God whom he served for most of his life here on earth. What a day of rejoicing that must have been for all in Heaven.
In 1975, Bill Graham came to Taiwan. I was one of the 100 choir members behind Mr. Graham as the worship team. I was 17 at the time and remembered telling myself how close I was standing behind the man of God. I was in awe of the power that I felt from his preaching and thousands that came forward after.
When I was 14, my mother and grandmother took my brother and me to a tent revival in downtown Los Angeles to hear Reverend Graham. It was an event that has stayed with me my entire life. I later learned that the extended event had over 360,000 people attend. I was blessed to hear him preach.
To the family of Reverend Graham: I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many people. I remember watching and listening to many sermons from Reverend Graham. He was an inspiration to many.
My parents accepted Christ through a Billy Graham Crusade in the early 60s. Because of their salvation, my siblings and I accepted Christ and now my children and grandchildren as well. They are now in heaven having a reunion with Billy and thanking him for his service! What a legacy he has left us!
Although I never went to a Billy Graham Crusade in person, I was deeply touched by his ministry through TBN. His message taught me the importance of the cross. His simplistic message of the good news challenges me daily to share our great hope. I pray that God raises up more Billy Graham’s.
At the age of 10, after watching Billy Graham preach on TV, I gave my life to the Lord. I will forever be grateful for him and his life- changing ministry.
I sang in the choir for the Anaheim Crusade in the 1980s. Dr. Graham’s messages each night were so powerful and challenging. I will never forget the sense of the Holy Spirit’s presence. May God comfort his family with His peace.
I was 15, depressed because my parents divorced and starting to run in a gang to find significance. One Sunday night I listened to Billy on my transistor radio and gave my life to Christ. Later I became a pastor.
