It was my intention to attend his last crusade in New York, but I never made it. I feel so bad about this because I believe he was the best there ever was. May God rest his soul.
Last year I pick up a book “The Journey” by Mr. Graham. Every time I read it I can hear God’s voice through Mr. Graham’s. It affected me so much I went out and bought 15 copies to give to family and friends. Mr. Billy Graham will be sorely missed.
I first saw Billy Graham in a tent at the 1964 Worlds Fair in New York. I was captivated and only 16 years old. Through the years I took the correspondence course offered by the association. I saw Mr. Graham again as he got on an elevator where I was. His had such a presence, he gave me faith.
I surrendered my life to Jesus at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1969 at Madison Square in New York City. So thankful for him.
I met Dr. Graham on my way to the University of Tennessee with my mother who was a Southern Baptist. Later, I was called into full time ministry. My husband Ed and I served at the Rock the Range crusade in Denver in 2011. The BGEA is an excellent group. God bless the family and this ministry!
His preaching started with my sister, Pat, in the 1950’s. She followed him & was my spiritual guide. She witnessed to all our siblings & she became a missionary, & witnessed to thousands. Her profession was a surgical tech. She was killed in a car wreck in 1995, after visiting The Cove.
I went forward at Madison Square Garden in 1957.
All I can think about right know is the song “Thank You For Giving To The Lord” by Ray Boltz. And all the people that lined up to tell Mr. Graham, “Thank you for giving to the Lord.” I know that I am thankful for what he has done for our Lord. And hope to continue the message of Salvation!
The influence of Billy and his ministry on me cannot be overestimated. I first watched the Crusade on TV from Australia in 1959 with my dad. As a family we always watched the Crusades. I listened to The Hour of Decision my whole life including with my son. I would be hell bound without BGEA.
I met Billy Graham when I was 13 in Atlanta, Ga. He was to appear on Face The Nation and I was to appear on The International 4-H Hour. As I shook his hand I said, “Because of you, when I was 9 years old I got saved.” He said, “It wasn’t because of me, young man; it was because of Jesus Christ.”
