As a small child, I remember sitting on the floor as my family watched the crusades on television. Since Mr. Graham’s passing, I have been listening to some of his early messages. I never realized he had a great sense of humor and his message was so easy to understand. I thank God for Mr. Graham.
My Dad (Rev. Stanley L. Bennett) and my Mom (Jo Ella Bennett) took me to the Grahams home in Montreat, NC years ago when I was a young boy. I was admiring their guinea pig, Porky. Ruth Graham asked if I liked it and I said yes! She said well I want to give you Porky. So sweet!
I shall always remember the vast crowd that I witnessed and experienced when the young Evangelist Billy Graham preached at Fort Jackson, SC in the early 1950’s. One could sense “electricity” in the crowd as he proclaimed the gospel so powerfully. Thank God for sending him to all for such a time.
Please know our thoughts & prayers are with you during this time. Thank you for sharing your parents with us & to them a big thanks for giving to the Lord.
My husband’s mother got saved through a Billy Graham crusade back in the early 1950’s. I never got to meet her, as we got married after she died, but her love for Jesus was a very positive influence in my husband’s childhood. I was most attracted to him because of his strong Christian faith.
I never met Billy Graham personally, but as a young girl attended one of the Madison Square Garden meetings with my parents, sister, and aunt. Listening to Hour of Decision radio programs was almost a weekly event in our home. I rejoice in that I shall meet him in heaven one day. Praying for you.
Oh what a sweet soul, was in New York in 1971 and went to the crusade there. I was a five year old Christian and remember I couldn’t grasp his words deeply enough. His love for Jesus came from every word he said. I know there was a celebration in heaven when he arrived! So many souls saved!
Dad, I love you so much and I feel so sad because the world will really miss you. I wept a lot but I am also so happy you went home to meet the Lord Jesus at last. When I was 18 I thought of committing suicide but fortunately for me I stumbled on a message from Billy Graham’s ministry and I was saved.
I loved to watch Billy Graham! He will be missed!
Church yesterday featured footage of crusades in Australia. Sang “Who Can Cheer the Heart Like Jesus,” prayed for many to come to Jesus during this time and finished with “To God Be the Glory.”
