My baby died in a house fire in 1969. I heard Billy Graham on television in August 1969. I was on medicine due to his death. When I heard the message that night Billy said God wanted me to come just the way I was. There was nothing left. Jesus took over my life that night. Everything changed.
Billy and I were both influenced by Dr. Henrietta Mears and received our call to full-time ministry at Forest Home Christian Camp, CA. He in 1949 to the world and me in 1952 to Africa where I eventually ministered 26 years among the Dogon Cliff Dwellers. Attended the 1949 tent meetings. HDA with Gigi 1959.
I was 10 in SA Australia when I heard Billy & received Christ Jesus; at 30 I became a missionary in the Amazon Jungle & planted churches using health care.
I heard B.G. preach a few times and what has always stood out to me about him was how his message was always so clear & how he kept it so simple and to the point. Answer the knock on the door of your heart he said. And I did. I was a teenager there with my mom. Humble, gracious, integrity & funny.
God has used Billy Graham in my life to draw me closer to Jesus! I will see Billy when I get home!
Praying for the Graham family! Reverend Graham was faithful, a man of integrity, and lived what he preached! I was honored & privileged to help with Reverend Graham’s last crusade in 2005 in NYC – something I will treasure forever! I will see you in Heaven-Well done, thou good & faithful servant!
I remember watching Mr. Graham on television when I was a child. I remember being drawn to the simple Gospel message, but at the same time being under conviction. Those messages planted the seeds of the Gospel which came to grow later in my adult life which now is given to Christ. Thank you Billy!
A friend went into a tavern to get a quick lunch one day. Several men were eating hot dogs and drinking beer. When Billy Graham came on TV, they all stopped lifting their bottles or mugs and listened to Billy preach the entire time. There was silence in the tavern during his message.
I’m very sorry for your family’s loss. I know the Rev. Graham is rejoicing with the Lord. Praying for your family.
God be with all your family through this difficult time. In 1957 my family drove from New Jersey to New York Madison Square Garden to hear Billy Graham’s Crusade. My brothers and sister were in the choir. I was 13 years of age and sat with my parents to hear his messages.
