After four hours on the 22nd floor during the MGM fire, I was taken to a triage center and fell asleep only to be awakened with a firm hand on my shoulder and a powerful voice saying, “Young man, are you all right?” I opened my eyes and saw his piercing and beautiful blue eyes and embracing countenance. Heaven!
My family accepted the Lord in the late 70’s in Fargo, North Dakota. The most important thought goes to the date. I will never forget that moment. God bless.
I will miss this wonderful man of God. I watched him growing up at my grandma’s and aunt’s house back in the 1950s. We were all touched by his teachings and by the way he delivered it. We felt true love through brother Graham, and he always inspired us to walk with God and His Word.
As a lost hippy in 1975, I had just been in a wreck and nearly killed. I was at my parents home weeks after the wreck, and I heard Billy say on TV, “If you have just lived through a near-fatal wreck, God has a plan for your life and saved you by His angels.” I was saved soon after and called to preach.
My mother, Ruth B. Hofstra, was saved in 1953 at the Crusade in Chattanooga, TN. Mom had come down from New York to teach math at UT in Knoxville. Thank God, she drove down to the Crusade in her 1951 Ford! Later, my brother and I came down and joined her. Our little family was changed forever!!
I have struggled with severe depression my entire life. Many times, I have come close to killing myself and even tried to do so. Rev. Graham’s message has always brought me hope. I can honestly say that I am alive today because of his message of the Gospel and that Christ died for me. Thank you.
I was greatly influenced to live my life for Christ at one of Billy Graham’s Crusades in Nashville, TN. The crusade must have been in the late 1950s while I was in high school. I am 76 years old now.
On May 20, 1975, the bicentennial of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence, I met Billy Graham. He was there with President Ford for the celebration. President Ford shook my hand. Billy Graham gave me a hug!
I thought Billy Graham almost was 100. The Lord said that 99 was chosen because of the 1 lost sheep.
