I was saved at 17 years old in my living room in Kansas City listening to Billy preach on TV at the first New York Crusade. My life was changed forever. Praise God for Billy Graham.
My Dad, Dr. James Thorne, was at Selfridge ANG Base in Michigan in the early 1950s. Dad and a friend went to the chapel to hear a young preacher. Dad stayed afterwards and shook his hand and chatted for a while. It was Billy Graham. Dad’s faith was impacted and it affected our entire family.
What a privilege it was to hear Dr. Graham preach throughout my lifetime. Born in 1950, I came to Christ while watching a television broadcast of a crusade in the early 1970s, and attended both Tacoma, WA crusades some years later. Such cherished memories of a great man of God.
Oh my, imagine our world without Billy Graham. I cannot. The closest life to Jesus Christ we have witnessed by many accounts. All for the Gospel!
Pastor Billy Graham meant so much to my mother. She would gather us children around the TV to hear Billy Graham preach his soul-saving messages. We looked forward to listening to Pastor Graham and his beautiful sounding singers. My favorite hymn was Just As I Am. I thank God for His dedicated servant.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the loss of this great pastor, parent and friend. I never met him in person yet I felt his passing was like the loss of a great friend. His love of Christ and the way he lived his life loving Christ is a model for all of us. Peace be to his memory.
I gave my life to Christ at one of the crusades here in Jacksonville, Florida at the Franklin Graham crusade. Holy Spirit was present with me that night. May papa’s soul REST in perfect peace, AMEN.
When I was 10 years old in 1960, went to Philadelphia and heard Billy. We stayed at the Ben Franklin. I met George Bev Shea and Cliff Barrows while we ate breakfast (my dad was a C.M.A. pastor). I assume Billy was there too but never met him there. Heard him in Rochester and Syracuse in 1988.
In 1953 at Madison Square Garden in New York City where Billy Graham preached at this crusade I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into my heart and to this day Jesus Christ is still my Lord and savior. He has brought me through so many trials. And not once has He ever left me.
My prayers with your family. Such a legacy.
