I am grateful for Billy Graham’s ministry and example of a faithful servant of God. As a boy I attended his 1962 Chicago crusade. Afterward my family went on vacation and we met Billy in Yellowstone Park! I never forgot this and later God called me to pastoral ministry. I thank God for his impact!
My wife came to know Jesus at 15 when she was taken to the crusade in Philadelphia. I attended the Harringay Crusade in London where night after night the “Tube” trains were filled with songs like “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine” and the singing could be heard through the trains.
Billy Graham was an amazing man. Growing up my grandma would listen to him on the radio and then watch him on TV. So when I got older I decided to go to the Library and to The Cove. It was so amazing. My journey through the Library is when I was saved and my sins forgiven. My life changed that day.
He touched my heart in so many ways. He was truly the vision of a godly man. He will be missed.
My husband and I, newly married in the 60s, had been praying for his parents to accept Jesus. We persuaded them to come to the crusade at ASU stadium in Phoenix. Imagine our joy at seeing both parents unhesitantly go forward to accept Christ! Spent their lives serving Christ and are in Heaven now!
I participated in Billy Graham’s first campaign in Sydney Australia back in 1959. I rented two double decker buses to leave from our church every night of the campaign. Most of the men from our chapel took the counseling classes that Charlie Riggs gave and all participated. Many Blessings!
One of the greatest legacies he left Raleigh is his daughter Anne who brought Bible Study Fellowship to Raleigh. Thousands upon thousands of Raleigh men, women and children were saved, learned to love Jesus, learned how to study the Bible, love Scripture, and walk with the Lord.
This poem is for Anne Graham:
With his heartbeat slowly fading away
God called Billy Graham home today
Until the end of his demise he was so brave
But his final resting place will not be his grave
For his soul has departed to heaven above
Leaving us fond memories of his kindness and love
Just listening to this man of God always brought tears to my eyes. We thank God for giving him to us for these many years. He will forever live in my heart.
I thank Our Lord Jesus Christ for giving us Rev. Billy Graham. His message touched and changed my life and is still impacting my life today. I know that Jesus is full of joy seeing His faithful servant face to face. Enjoy your new home, say hello to my mom and dad. See you all soon. Praying for BGEA.
