I remember as a child sitting on the living room floor with my siblings and watching Billy Graham crusades on our black and white console television. Through the years, the message remained consistent, “Come just as you are to the cross of Jesus and receive salvation.”
In my mind, in spite of the many great preachers as I’ve heard, Christian evangelism in the 20th/21st century is synonymous with Billy Graham. I only hope God, in His grace, will prepare me and my family to continue a small part of what Billy started.
I’m sad, but also I rejoice today because I can visualize Rev. Graham being welcomed into the presence of our Savior. I hope my Dad who was a pastor for 60 years and passed away in 2015 was there also to greet Rev. Graham. He so admired him and his faithfulness to the Gospel.
As a little boy, I dreamed of meeting Dr. Graham and singing in one of his crusades. In 1977, Cliff Barrows invited my brothers and me to sing in the Asheville Crusade. In the makeup room Dr. Graham welcomed us and said, “God is going to use you to point people to Jesus.” It was always about Jesus.
Loved the message your father preached. He will be missed greatly. Saw him preach in Louisville, Ky.
What a glorious day for Dr. Graham! He is with his Lord! I have listened to Dr. Graham all of my life! What an inspiration his life was for us all! He will be greatly missed!
Mr. Graham was inspirational. I attended a crusade in Knoxville, TN, in the 60s with my parents as a small child. Later in life as a youth pastor, my teens were junior counselors at the 2000 crusade in Nashville, TN. I was privileged to lead a man to God. What a blessing the man was to all. For God!
My heart hurts for a world without the presence of Billy Graham but I rejoice with all believers as we celebrate his arrival into his eternal home in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
I should not be sad for a man who has lived such a long and full life. I shouldn’t cry because you are in the presence of Jesus now. But I am sad and I have shed tears because my heart has been so touched by your work. I pray I can bring glory to God as much and as well as you have, faithful servant.
Rev. Graham has shaped my life in Christ ever since I was a child. I watched his evangelistic crusades one night every week with my parents for as far back as I can remember. I will always consider his ministry to be the greatest in the world during our time, and I pray for his family.
