Do You Know Christ?
In 2006, I had the privilege of attending a Billy Graham service at H.P. Pavilion, in San Jose, CA, where I went up for altar call and gave my life to Jesus.
Billy Graham was my Christian hero who I looked up to. He was the Michael Jordan of bringing lost souls to Christ. He could talk and communicate with anyone, and he was admired and loved by millions throughout the world.
Growing up, my mom and dad would gather my brothers, sisters and I in the living room to watch the Billy Graham Crusades. I did the same when I had a family of my own. His message was so simple. As a child I could understand the message of salvation. I have been so blessed through his ministry.
In 1979, my friend Marissa enthusiastically told me that I had to attend Wheaton. I got excited and joyfully researched the school. Hearing that the atmosphere was heavenly and discovering that the bold, winsome, charismatic Billy Graham was an alumnus sealed it. He has always been in my psyche.
Your father was a very special man. I felt extremely sad when he died, but also knew he was extremely happy. I have admired your father for years, there is no other like him. I strive to live a life as he did—always putting God first and living that Godly example. Continued prayers for you all.
Billy Graham’s message has helped me through all of life’s ups and downs. I will miss him. Franklin, you gave a great speech. Your dad would be proud.
For 60 years we have used Billy’s sermons, books and looked at the way he lived his life. I’m so thankful for his honest, trustworthy living. What a blessing God shed on his ministry—isn’t God great?
Our grandson, Carter Jackson, was in middle school when his teacher asked the class to choose a person they admired and prepare a presentation for the class on the life of that person. He chose your father, Billy Graham, as his choice of the person he most admired. Now he’s 23 and feels the same.
Despite his worldwide popularity and great speaking ability, Rev. Graham was so humble. He could go on and on with his message, but it was simple: God loves us. We are forgiven because we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He died on the cross, taking all of our sins with Him. Perfect love!
Billy Graham has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. My mother and father loved his messages, and all he was doing to spread the Gospel and win souls to Jesus. My father will be so happy to meet him in heaven. God bless you all do to spread the Gospel.
